This characteristic school building was empty for a prolonged time. Our client asked us to look at possibilities to transform it into a hotel. In order to keep the original character intact, we decided to focus the transformation on three major points: add floorspace by moving floor levels, improve routing and activate attic by adding light. The changes to the exterior are small and apply mostly to the inner garden. However, the interior is completely stripped and rebuilt. The result is a building that combines the characteristic old exterior with a more efficient hotel usage with playful rooms of varying sizes.
