Renovation and transformation of office buildings
Not every office building needs to be replaced. Many existing offices have a strong structure that, with a well-considered renovation, can remain valuable for decades. As a renovation architect, we make existing office buildings more sustainable, comfortable and future-ready, while giving them a renewed architectural identity.

Sometimes an office building no longer has a viable future as an office. In these cases, we explore whether transformation into housing or a mixed-use programme can create greater long-term value. By retaining and adapting existing structures, we can reduce the need for new materials while giving buildings a new purpose.

Giving existing offices a new future
An office building does not always need to be new. An existing structure may provide a strong foundation for a different layout, greater comfort and a longer life. As renovation architects, we explore what can be retained and where a carefully chosen change will have the greatest effect.
The transformation of the Lauwers 1 office building in Assen shows how reusing an existing building can create new value. Sometimes a different function is better suited to the building and its location. We consider that possibility too.
From the first idea to technical design
A strong office building begins with a clear understanding of the brief. We bring together the needs of the client and users, the opportunities of the site, sustainability goals and technical requirements.
Throughout the design process, we work with consultants to develop a building that can be delivered. During technical design and through BIM engineering, we coordinate the architecture, structure and building services in greater detail.
