The future of architecture lies in biobased design and in reducing the environmental footprint of the buildings we create. Urban Climate Architects develops innovative timber architecture in which CLT plays a central role. We combine natural materials with intelligent design and construction techniques to create buildings that are not only energy-efficient, but also healthy, warm and inspiring places to live and work.
CO₂Storage
The future of architecture is biobased, low carbon and built with care. Urban Climate Architects designs wood architecture with CLT, mass timber and circular materials. As a timber architect, we create healthy, lightweight and future-ready buildings for housing, public buildings and urban transformation.
Why build with wood?
Wood is renewable, stores carbon and brings warmth to the spaces we use every day. Prefabricated timber elements can speed up construction, reduce waste on site and make the building process cleaner and more precise. For projects led by mass timber, we also work as a CLT architect.
A smart material choice
Timber construction is well suited to housing, public buildings, extensions and the transformation of existing structures. Its light weight can open up possibilities where heavier materials are less suitable. For early feasibility, it helps to understand the cost of timber construction and the practical differences between timber vs concrete.
From ambition to design
We help municipalities, developers and housing organisations turn sustainability goals into clear, buildable architecture. From first strategy to detailed design, we connect material choices, climate impact and spatial quality. Working on a tender or public project? Lansingerland, Netherlands | 425 m2 | 2024-2025
Urban Climate Architects is designing the main building for the new circular resource recovery hub in Lansingerland, commissioned by the Municipality of Lansingerland. This project is not just about waste disposal but focuses on resource recovery within a circular economy. The two-storybuilding is constructed from biobased and recycled materials.

Urban in a responsible way
We approach urbanization with responsibility and care, aiming to enhance city living while minimizing the impact on nature. Our goal is to intensify urban spaces in a way that preserves natural ecosystems and creates opportunities within existing city limits. Our commitment to a circular and inclusive society extends beyond materials and products to our core belief in creating equitable environments.
Climate must be recognized
We acknowledge the climate as a powerful force that demands respect and understanding. Our approach to sustainability involves generating energy locally whenever possible and favoring natural biomass materials over concrete and steel to reduce environmental impact. Wood, for example, is a renewable resource that effectively stores carbon dioxide and can be easily repurposed. It is lightweight, quick to assemble, and a key component in our sustainable design strategy.
Architects eye for detail
Quality in design is our foundation, transcending fleeting trends to offer timeless value. We focus on creating tranquility and stability through our designs, emphasizing high-quality products that ensure longevity. Our attention to human scale, proportions, and detail fosters a form of sustainability that goes beyond metrics, engaging the senses and enhancing the overall experience of the built environment. From the tactile sensation of wooden walls to the soothing sounds of nature, we strive to make every project a harmonious blend of form and function.
