Cultural-Historical Development and Future Vision for “De Entree” in Zoetermeer

“De Entree” in Zoetermeer is a dynamic urban development area where the past, present, and future converge. Commissioned by the Municipality of Zoetermeer, UC Architects conducted a comprehensive cultural-historical study to evaluate the significance of this area. This report highlights the transformation of Zoetermeer — originally a small peat village that evolved into a thriving city — and its further progression through the development of “The Entree.” This new gateway to the city seeks to seamlessly merge its rich historical heritage with forward-looking urban planning.

Cultural-historical development in Zoetermeer as a basis for sustainable construction

Past as a foundation for the future

At the entrance to Zoetermeer, we are working on an area where history and future reinforce each other. This vision not only focuses on development, but above all on understanding and using what is already there. With sustainable construction and transformation of an existing building a plan is created that builds on the identity of the place.
