Transformation of Office Building into Housing Complex with Vertical extension in Leiden
In Leiden has Urban Climate Architects an impressive redevelopment project realized where an office building is being transformed into 415 apartments. This offers housing for various target groups, from starters to seniors, and responds to the growing housing needs in the city.
Vertical extenstion and Circular Building
This project is an excellent example of vertical extension and circular construction. The existing office building has been expanded by 11,000 m², which almost doubles its size. Three additional floors have been added, which not only increases the living space, but also gives the building a modern look. The extension has been carefully designed so that it fits perfectly into the environment, with a focus on preserving the original structure.
Smart Architecture and Sustainability
The redevelopment of this building highlights the importance of sustainable design. The original structure of the office building has been reused, making the project energy efficient and cost-effective. The new façade consists of prefabricated elements, which contributes to a energetically optimal building. The design takes full advantage of natural daylight, so that the indoor climate remains pleasant and energy efficient.
Innovative Additions for Modern Home Needs
The addition of vertical extension increases the functionality of the building, while remaining aesthetically pleasing. The shape of the extension is determined by the incidence of sunlight, giving the apartments a light and airy atmosphere. This smart approach makes the building suitable for a wide range of residents.
