Transformation & Renovation by UC Architects: From Printing House to Boutique Hotel

A unique example of transformation and renovation by UC Architects: This distinctive building, originally built as a printing house in the early 20th century, is getting a new lease of life as a boutique hotel. In the 90s, the building was already converted into school and office space, including the addition of a parking garage — an important step in the area development towards housing.

A new phase of transformation

The building is now at the start of a large-scale transformation into a stylish 91-room boutique hotel. At home renovations includes a contemporary revision of the façade with particular attention to entrances and windows. In addition, the roof will be completely renewed and there will be an additional floor, where public areas and rooms with mezzanines will be built. The high ceilings will thus remain fully used — a feature that will give the hotel its unique character.

Architectural renovation with a vision

The architectural approach to this transformation is typical of the method of UC Architects: respect for historical context combined with contemporary luxury. By combining modern design and smart layout, a place is created where past and future reinforce each other.

Project timeline

Construction started before the summer, and the hotel is scheduled to open in spring 2025. This project is a great example of how a thoughtful renovations country transformation be able to breathe new life into a monumental building — while retaining its character and with an eye for future use.
